My husband and I don’t do big gifts at Christmas. We like to play Santa for the kids and then just buy items to fill each other’s stockings with. We started about 4 years ago and we both kinda love it now. We look forward to the challenge of a budget and smaller meaningful items that can fit in the stockings. But men are soooooo hard to shop for! (Can I get an “Amen!”?)
A little about my husband. He is as genuine as they come. There is not a-lot of fan fare with him though. Very minimalistic when it comes to wardrobe. Just give him a good flannel or a pair of hiking boots and he is good. Ryan is also a contractor and loves working with his hands. He loves the outdoors and is basically part mountain goat. He works hard, tries to play hard and loves are family even harder. His love language also happens to be gift giving. Which makes getting him gifts almost impossible because he likes the best, loves to research EVERYTHING and most things don’t cost under $300.
But I made a list of some success buys from the past and a few I am looking at for this year. So if your are still racking your brain over what to get your difficult husband, significant other, brother or father I’ve got ya covered! I even had him “approve” this list for me the other night.
1 // Slim Leather Wallet w/Money Clip 2 // Smoker BBQ Gloves & Accessories 3 // Redemption at Hacksaw Ridge, The Allies, Ghost Soldiers 4 // LL Bean Hiking Socks 5 // Bunderberg Gingerbeer 6 // Smoker Seasonings
7 // Cabela’s Slippers 8 // Gift Cards 9 // Leather Key-Holder 10 // Pocket Chain Saw 11 // J-Crew American Fiber Hair Putty 12 // Burts Bees Hand Salve
ITEM #1——Ryan loves these slim wallets. They hold just enough cards, his drivers license and a little money clip for cash.
ITEM #2——I got these silicon smoker gloves for him last year and he uses them all the time. He has a smoker and when he is doing big pieces of meat he can just pick it up with his hands and rotate them. They are also dishwasher safe.
ITEM #3——Books! we both love to read. These are some that were recommended that I think Ryan might like. He loves a good biography or war story.
ITEM #4——Since Ryan Hikes alot I am always on the lookout for good socks for his feet. These LL Bean ones are rated #1 and are suppose to be amazing.
ITEM #5——-His favorite drink of all time. Bunderberg Gingerbeer. He lived in Australia for 2 years on a church mission and developed a love for this Gingerbeer. He says it is the best one around. I think its gross but him and all his friends like it. You can find it at World Market or most grocery stores now but 5 years ago we use to have to order it offline!!!
ITEM #6——-Smoker seasonings are always a hit. He loves trying out new flavors.
ITEM #7——-These house Slippers have great ratings and harder than normal soles. Apparently they are really warm too.
ITEM #8——-Gift Cards. I can never go wrong with a gift card and say “buy your own gift.” A few places that he loves, Cabelas, Cinemark and Amazon.
ITEM #9——-Leather Key Holder. These look amazing! I think he would really like this. He hates keys jingling around in his pocket but this key holder folds them into itself!
ITEM #10——-This was, BY FAR, the most successful gift I have ever given him. I got it for him last year and I don’t know if I can beat it. He absolutely loves it and has used it a ton. Its a portable Chain saw and fits in your pocket. So when we are camping or when he is in the mountains he takes it with him.
ITEM #11——-Ryan’s favorite hair Putty. Non greasy and holds really well.
ITEM #12——-As I told you before, Ryan is a contractor so his hands get beat up a lot. I have bought him basically every kind of hand salve and cream and this Burts Bees one is his favorite.
Hope this helps all you last minute shoppers like me. HAPPY SHOPPING!
