With everything going on I take comfort in the things that are NOT changing and different. While I write this I am humming the song from Frozen 2 “Somethings Never Change”! My little girl has had our Alexa playing it non-stop since we have been doing the social distancing thing.
Spring is still here guys and I intend to enjoy it just like every year! COVID-19 can’t touch that! We are all at home right now so lets get some things done that are enjoyable and bring a little beauty to our surroundings. Last year I wrote a post on how to bring Spring into your home and how to achieve it. I still stand by those suggestions so check it out. This year I wanted to focus on some other ideas and create a bucket list for myself to help with it.
1 || CANDLES AND SCENTS
When my house smells good, I am much happier. Weird, huh? Lavender Lemon is my favorite for this time of year. I grabbed this Lavender Lemonade candle last year from Target and I love it so much I’ve burned it everyday and now I’m almost out! But you can even do a mix of lavender and lemon oils in a diffuser as well. Pick your favorite “fresh” spring scent and blast it through your house daily. Here is a resource for good blends to use.
2 || BRING IN SOME BLOSSOMS OR FLOWERS
Forsythia and tulips always scream spring. Go find a bush or a neighbor and clip some to put in a vase or purchase a bundle of tulips at your local store. Studies have show that having fresh flowers in your home increases happiness, reduces depression and anxiety and actually can increase emotional contact with friends and family. Never has there been a more important and appropriate time to have flowers in your home to help with all the feelings.
3 || GET YOUR HANDS IN SOME DIRT
Want to increase your Saratonin (the happy chemical in your brain) levels? Get your hands in some dirt and garden. If you don’t have a flower bed get yourself a pot and plant some seed starts, flowers, or succulents. I never gardened growing up. We did yard work but never really gardening. After I got married and we bought our first house I learned how fulfilling it is and how much I actually loved it. I have some fun plans for patio gardening this year and I really excited to get started.
4 || ORGANIZE AN AREA
Its hard not to get that spring cleaning and organizing bug. There are so many ideas out there. Look for a spring cleaning challenge to join or just pick one area a week to tackle. For me, the basement storage room, pantry or linen closet are all on my list.
5 || RE-STYLE YOUR SHELVES
Its a quarterly thing I do around here and they have been suffering since Christmas. Take everything off. Clean them up and add some other SPRING inspired items like pottery, eggs, greenery and pretty home decor books.
I’ve put together a bucket list of things centered around your home or homemaking that you can do for the spring. Click HERE to print it out to put on your fridge! I’m starting mine today!
HAPPY SPRING EVERYONE!
