Week two of the One Room Challenge is not very exciting for me but things that needed to happen nonetheless. Blogging about cleaning isn’t the best way to grab attention or engagement but I think its a step that most people don’t consider into their timelines, especially on design projects or remodels. Getting things cleared out, cleaned and having a blank slate resets our minds, we are able to visual the space and its potential clearly and execute in a more efficient manner.
PRESSURE WASHING
I was able to borrow a pressure washer from my sweet neighbors and now I want one! My husband has a big loud one for his business but its never here and kinda overkill for anything I would need it for around our house. So a small electric pressure washer like this Portland Electric Corded Pressure Washer is now on my wish list. I think it is normally $99 and is on sale right now for $79. Um…YES! Could I have done it with a hose? Maybe but it definitely was not a effective and fast.
All of the patio, outdoor sofa cushions and sectional got a good washing and cleaning. I ended up doing our old Deck box as an afterthought and man! in looks like new! I didn’t realize how dirty is was.
GARDEN PLANTER BOX
We started on the garden box this week. If you saw my instagram post I was so proud of the shadow boxing frames I put together! Last week I explained that we have a few wood working projects in this One Room Challenge and I’m going to try and learn a few new skills along the way while we do this. My husband is literally a master carpenter (like builds custom houses and cabinetry) and could probably do the stuff I am attempting in a 1/10 of the time. But he doesn’t always have the time and desire to work on my endless projects so I am trying to learn more this year to be a little more independent. So far…clamps are not as easy to use as they look and I don’t care for sanding. But there is definitely a ton of fulfillment in building something with your own two hands.
ARRANGING THE FURNITURE
I went ahead a put the furniture and area rug out. Mainly because we still need to use this area during this whole thing and I didn’t have anywhere else for it to be. I am loving my area rug!
TASKS I COMPLETED AND TASKS I HAVN’T
I didn’t quite finish my Garden Planter Box. We started it but my husband kinda needs to help me with some things. But for sure next week! We are close. But I did transplant some of my veggies over to pots before they died on me. So that is a win!
